
The entire Tawang district bordering China has been experiencing heavy snowfall since December 23 and the area is covered under three feet of snow, officials said.
The snow has brought cheer for young monks at the Tawang Monastery.
Snowfall during the Torgya festival, being celebrated in the first week of the month, is considered a harbinger of peace and prosperity by the Monpas of Tawang and West Kameng districts.
Sela Pass, at an altitude of 14,000 feet on the Bomdila-Tawang road has been covered by five feet snow for the last couple of months.
